Procuring an app which keeps our staff safe

The Business had a need for a tool that would ensure the safety of FCDO Services travelling officers, their dependants, contractors and staff of partner organisations, thereby fulfilling our Duty of Care obligations. An example of the reactive functionality – The system has an emergency SOS facility on a software app for the eventuality that if an individual finds themselves in a hostile situation activating this option automatically alerts the nearest central hub to the individual’s situation and the relevant action is instigated. 

This is a critical piece of software enabling the safety and welfare of our overseas staff. Operational challenges were that the tool had to be simple to use, be able to be used across the globe and on existing devices. The procurement team lead the tender process and contract negotiations resulting in a globally used tool.
